The bearing goes into head assembly matching with magnet inside the head
See step 17
The numbers have to match when re-installing brush
to decide which number should be facing up
Look at the bristles see if they are worn down or soft
If they are still stiff and in good shape place #1 up
If they are are getting alittle soft but still in ok shape place on #2
If they are showing wear place on #3
KIRBY BELT REPLACEMNET
Step 17
Place brush roll in head to match magnet
This magnet has a small green light on top of head to show when belt is moving
So you can tell if broken
You will notice if you try to place the brush in wrong
it will not go in because there is a larger end and a smaller end

Also if you have removed bag assembly there is also a safety switch
located between body and bag emptor make sure the cord is out of the way
under bag emptor
